Saturday 10th November

The Gardeners World program on BBC2 last night was interesting but on the short side, after travelling and spending all day on site, they could have shown more.
We had a good morning, including being caught in a hail downpour. On the way to the first feeder a Woodcock flew off the path just a few feet away, the first this year.
At the main feeders a male Great Spotted Woodpecker landed on the tree then onto the nuts, it stayed for about five minutes. We have seen them flying about quite often and disturbed them off the feeders but never had one land while sat on the seat.
