While sitting in the garden enjoying the warm sunshine and watching the butterflies, mostly large and small whites settling on the odd flower, a couple of small blue passed through and one settled long enough to take a photo. It turned out to be a Holly Blue, see attached photo, I then checked my records for the Holly Blue over the past years, they have two flight periods, late April-early May and late July-early August.
Another good area to see them is the small shaded lane, back of the new Vickerstown school.
I have just downloaded a new app on my android phone called "BirdNET", it allows you to record bird songs, preferably without too much background noise, listen back to the recording and select the best piece on the display, press analyse and it it shows the best choice, with a photo and also records the location. An excellent app worth a try.
