Sunday 22nd March

In the last blogs we have commented on the lack of ducks on the ponds, but over the last week a pair of Goldeneye have been seen on one of the small pond and the long pond, they are very shy and easily spooked, see attached photo.
Also on the long pond a pair of Oystercatches were spotted enjoying the morning sun.
Brent Geese are not very often seen at this end of the island but a flock of 40 were swimming past the launching ramp at Earnsy Bay, yesterday.
We took advantage of the dry spell and put out one of the portable moth traps overnight, and were very surprised to catch 15 moths, especially with the cold night, 13 were Hebrew Character, see photo.
