Thursday 3rd May

A better day today, nice and warm in the sun. Ian reported that the Cob was trapped behind the wire netting at the top end of pond 17, probably the result of chasing 4 visiting swans, which were enjoying the piece and quiet at the opposite end. With not enough water to take off he was (dare I say it "cobbed in"). We managed to bend sufficient wire back to allow him to escape. We also came across a lonely longtailed tit, probably nesting nearby. Also on pond 17 the Canada’s first goslings appeared on one of the small islands.
In the afternoon came across the first Orange Tip butterfly this year.
