Amphibian Ranavirus Disease

I have just been informed that the above disease has been confirmed in Cumbria, the following attachment contains a fact sheet on the subject.
Once established it is impossible to shift, there are no effective measures to treat or control the virus, but being an island does have advantages and hopefully it will not be translocated here.

As can be seen in the report the virus is mostly spread in the warmer summer months when the amphibians are more active, so I will post this blog again next year before the season starts, as a reminder.
