Lovely morning this morning,walked around the corner at the southern end of the long pond and crouched down on the path with nine black ducklings was a ‘dark coloured’ duck.
The duck took off instantly and the ducklings scattered over a wide area.Thought the best bet was to leave them to run and settle, in the hope the mother duck would at least round some of them up.
Feeling guilty I went back in the afternoon to see if there was any sight of them and luckily they were all on the water (see pics).From the size of them I would say they had just hatched but the question is
what are they?.I have an opinion but what about the experts?.
Trying to ‘snap’ swifts later on a peregrine flew over ahead high in the sky (see pic) too far away to get a really clear shot.
