Sightings

Hi, walking over old tip I was pleased to see a short eared owl hunting over the aerodrome. Coming down to the fishing pond I saw a female mallard with 5 or 6 ducklings possibly 2 weeks old. More breakfasts for the heron (see previous blog by Bri) who was preening itself on the long pond, looked quite bedraggled. Continued up to the new scrapings for the natterjack toads and there was the female mallard who at one time had 5 ducklings and now is down to just one, it is nearly adult size now. All the scrapings are full of water as is pond 35…just like winter levels…..no wonder with all the rain recently.
