A breezy sunny morning, with a heron on the long pond and an adult swan leaving and flying to the fishing pond probably trying to encourage the two cygnets to take a longer flight and view their surroundings. Bri started to fill the feeders for the first time for the autumn/ winter season and we sat and chatted and observed the birds. To the left of us about fifty goldfinch were feeding on the thistle heads and Bri was busy with his camera. We also saw a long tailed tit, and a woodpecker flew into the tree in front of us and minutes later departed into another tree. We also had a coal tit feeding away on the seed feeder. On the way back there were many meadow pipits passing through feeding en route to their winter destination.
